Final beam placed atop new Deukmejian Courthouse in Long Beach

First Steel Placement

Members of the AOC, the Los Angeles Superior Court, and several other state and local officials gathered with the project team on December 16, 2011 to sign the ceremonial first steel column before it was raised and set on the new foundation. The event was highlighted by speeches that expressed excitement and anticipation of the iconic building in Long Beach. Speeches were given by Former Governor George Deukmejian, the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County; Lee Smalley Edmon, Interim Administrative Director of the Courts; Ronald G. Overholt, AOC; and Stephen Reinstein, CEO of Long Beach Judicial Partners. 19 more steel columns were set that day as the building began to go vertical. View our photo slideshow below.


Chavez Elementary Painting Day

On November 29th, Clark partnered with the staff, students and parent volunteers at Cezar Chavez Elementary school to provide an opportunity for the Sealions to showcase their artistic talents. The art work created at the event is now on display around the site's construction fence. More mural painting days will sponsored at area schools in 2012.
